Cheyanne Gets Baptized

Earlier this month, Cheyanne took a beautiful step of faith by choosing to be baptized. Since joining BGC just over a year ago, she has become a shining light on our campus. Cheyanne and her cottage began attending Grace Life Baptist Church about six months ago, where she found a renewed sense of faith through their student ministry. The tight-knit youth group provided connection and support as she grew spiritually.

During youth camp this summer, Cheyanne felt ready to take the next step and be baptized. With guidance from her youth pastor and houseparents, she learned about the significance of water baptism and embraced it wholeheartedly.

On the day of her baptism, Cheyanne was both nervous and excited as over 150 people, including her BGC family, parents and extended family, gathered to witness this special moment. Standing before her loved ones, she publicly declared her commitment to Christ.

“I went to church camp over the summer, and it was my first time attending one. During a sermon, the pastor asked everyone who wanted to dedicate their life to Jesus to stand up. I was sitting there, and I don’t know how, but suddenly I was standing up, and I was so happy. Now here I am, getting baptized and washing away all my sins.”

She then shared her favorite verse, Hebrews 4:12: “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

Following her baptism, Cheyanne shared that she feels happier and more joyful. She has learned to shift her focus from the bad to the good, trusting in God’s plans. Cheyanne believes her baptism will serve as a constant reminder that God is always with her as she continues her journey of faith. Moving forward, she hopes this public declaration of faith will help her show grace and forgiveness to others—and to herself.

Cheyanne’s baptism marks a significant milestone in her spiritual journey, one that has filled her with newfound joy and peace. Surrounded by her loving community, she has embraced a deeper connection to her faith and looks forward to growing in her walk with Christ. With the support of her church, houseparents and the entire BGC family, Cheyanne is excited to continue following the path God has laid out for her, trusting in His guidance every step of the way.
