Starting over in a new home can be intimidating, and doing so without your siblings at your side adds an extra layer of uncertainty. Research estimates that 53% to 80% of children with siblings are separated from one or more of their siblings while in residential care.
At Boys and Girls Country, we understand the importance of maintaining sibling relationships and take every measure to ensure our children maintain family connections when appropriate. Preserving these bonds fosters a sense of safety and stability for our children during a challenging transition. “We have an incredible track record of keeping siblings together,” says CEO Vince Duran. “Even though siblings of opposite genders reside in separate cottages, they still live on the same campus, attend the same schools and have access to the same support system.”
Last year, we provided support to 15 sibling groups with ages ranging from 6 to 24. Younger siblings have the opportunity to witness their older siblings graduate from high school and enroll in our College and Career program, serving as role models for opportunity and growth.
We take pride in serving our sibling groups and will continue to prioritize these connections, providing unwavering love and support as they navigate their unique paths to adulthood.
