Boys and Girls Country (BGC) takes training seriously and believes that all staff should be equipped with trauma-informed care practices. This commitment was reflected in the 2,679 hours of in-house training completed by staff in 2025.
In addition, staff received approximately 760 hours of external training through trusted partners and professional development opportunities, including—but not limited to—the following:
This training equips staff with Trust-Based Relational Intervention® strategies to support children who have experienced trauma, focusing on connection, empowerment, and correction to promote healing and healthy relationships.
Participation in the Global Leadership Summit strengthens staff leadership skills, fosters innovative thinking, and encourages values-based leadership that directly enhances team effectiveness and organizational culture.
This conference provides up-to-date guidance on regulations, best practices, and operational excellence, ensuring BGC remains compliant while delivering the highest standard of residential child care.
Through this conference, staff engage with peers across the state to share best practices, address emerging challenges, and advance excellence in residential care for vulnerable youth.
This training supports BGC’s faith-based mission by equipping staff with tools to integrate spiritual care, ethical leadership, and compassionate service into daily interactions with children and families.
These trainings ensure our team is prepared to meet the complex needs of the children in our care and to provide a safe, supportive environment where they can heal, grow, and thrive.
Beyond professional development alone, this investment reflects a larger commitment to building a culture of safety, accountability, compassion, and healing so that children in our care can grow and thrive in a supportive home environment.
Beyond staff training, BGC is also committed to strong, mission-driven leadership. Though he prefers to stay out of the spotlight, CEO Vince Duran completed the prestigious, year-long American Leadership Forum (ALF) program in 2025 and was inducted as a Senior Fellow.
The ALF Fellowship is designed for leaders dedicated to strengthening communities through collaboration, equity, and systems-level impact.
Vince’s participation in this rigorous program expanded his leadership capacity, strengthened regional partnerships, and brought renewed vision and relationship-centered strategies back to Boys and Girls Country.
His achievement reflects not only personal dedication, but also our organization’s ongoing commitment to leadership grounded in service, excellence, and community transformation.
